# How can I start the revolution?
Each one of us can start a personal care revolution by making
conscientious choices as consumers. Just by changing your shampoo,
dish and laundry detergent you can make an environmental contribution.
95% of the sudsing agents in our market are not biodegradable and not
friendly to our environment or healthy for our personal consumption.
If you are putting it on you it is going to go in you. You can start
by turning over the labels on your personal care products. If it has
sulphates...keep shopping.
# I just turned 45. Should I think about a shorter hair style?
Just because you are over 40 does not mean you have to cut off your
hair. While long, one length hair below the shoulders can be aging
(we just don't have the facial proportions we did when we were (
twenty) a great hairdresser will personalize your preference for
length and enhance your face shape by creating movement within that
shape. You don't have to cut it all off to achieve that softer look.
# I just recently moved to a new city? What is the easiest way to find a new salon?
It's exciting and challenging to relocate! The hardest part is
finding a new dentist, doctor and HAIRDRESSER. Go to events of
places where people congregate and stay on the lookout for a great
haircut or beautiful color. When you see one, Just ask!
The best advertising for all of us is "word of mouth". You can also
Google for salons with websites in your area. Look for an educated
and informative site. Find out if the salon is departmentalized: a
separate color and haircutting division. Because when hairdressers
specialize they become experts in their department. You wouldn't go
to your eye doctor for an earache, right?
# Is it ok to bring my children to my appointment with my hairdresser?
You want your salon to be professional and attentive to your needs
and you in turn should be respectful of the salon's needs. Bringing
children into a salon without a separate appointment can be a
dangerous distraction to you, your hairdresser and your child. Your
salon appointments should be about you, not baby-sitting your child.
# My hairdresser always asks me what shampoo I am using. I feel like I
am being set up for a purchase and I can't always afford a haircut
and shampoo. What should I do?
Your hairdresser is trying to serve your needs not just in the salon
but out of the salon as well. Be considerate, open and informed. Do
your part and find out what ingredients are in the shampoo they are
selling in the salon. Remember 95% of the shampoos on the market
including salon shampoos are filled with non-biodegradable suds.
Those suds will darken your hair one whole shade and never leave your
hair. Turn the bottle over and look for a shampoo without sulphates.
Your hair will appreciate the difference!
